These Days and Nights
On these nights, when my mind runs too quick
and my thoughts stretch a thousand miles long
When my eyes begin to seal themselves, for a midnight's slumber,
my mind opens them again, only to remind me of the quieter days
The silent days when my thoughts were of the present, of the now, the happier times,
and now, so loud, they yell of the past, the future, and dreading the present, the darker times
On these days, when my thoughts skip around
and my mind dances freely for a million seconds
When my eyes are too open, ready for the day to bring something new,
my mind brings them to a reality, when there is the realization of darkness
The darkness that swallows me every night, the darkness that strikes fear within me,
and now, so quiet again, they sing of the past, the present, and the future,
killing the rainbows, picking the flowers, and once again,
I am alone in the night, when my mind runs too quick
and my thoughts stretch a thousand miles long
When the only reason why the present cannot be so bad,
is knowing in the future, tomorrow, you will be there
