The Night Sky
Dark, vast, stretching into the past,
Goes on farther than we can see,
When planets explode with a fiery blast,
We’re safe on Earth, you and me.
In recent years, planets have gone,
Rock samples provide a direct link.
Throughout history, constellations were drawn,
The vastness of the universe makes everyone think.
I look up to the sky and dream,
Ponder about the stars that gleam,
When I get into bed,
They are watching over my head.
Peering through my window, I’m mesmerized, I stare,
What on Earth is out there?
Supernovas, planets, the occasional asteroids,
Aliens, bacteria, more humans, or androids?

I originally wrote this for a contest to win a free iPad. No such luck, but hey, I got a poem out of it!
