Watch the World Burn
The opposition of it all;
the sheer audacity of the world.
And the wonder that should surround it
is dead to most.
Do they dare burn holes in our skulls by pushing false information on us?
Where is the appreciation, the respect, the love?
It may be best not to inquire,
for the answer you desire
has already been swallowed whole
by the ones who constantly wish to watch others fall.
Give us your best
so we can poke holes in your personal can of aspiration.
Give us your best
So we can build you up
Kiss your cheek and tell you
You have done well
And if you didn’t,
you won’t
and you shouldn’t.
But you did,
And you don’t,
But instead you call attention to the things that have no meaning
Or rather,
you give no meaning to the things that have no meaning
because the meaning was lost long ago
and no one bothered to find it.
You can give those
Insignificant
Meager
Odds and Ends
That no one knows the name of
Value and substance
Or you can watch them perish
And be eradicated from existence
But it is your choice,
After all,
You’re the one watching the world burn.
