The Ceramic Girl
The tragically beautiful Monday-
The day he asked her
If he could have a date that Friday,
She grew into her glass shell.
She was euphoric,
She was ecstatic,
As if nothing could ever happen.
Life was going perfectly;
Her glossy finish shined everyday,
With a sort of radiance that you couldn't help but notice,
As if nothing could happen.
With her porcelain smile plastered on her face,
She sat and waited.
For the message she'd anticipated
That agonizing week.
It was the first day she realized-
Life isn't always happy;
It's not always blue skies and butterflies,
Sometimes it's tears and rejection.
It was the first day
A crack went up and down her priceless china spine.
She hid it well,
With beautiful shirts and a broken smile.
Nobody would have guessed,
The ceramic girl was in the midst of shattering.
