untitled 6/23/14
i want to place my cold hands
against your ribcage to feel the
warmth of your heartbeat
and let my fingers linger atop yours
for just a moment too long
clutch your sweater to my chest
and breathe in your smell of
smoke pepper and cologne
each of my senses picks up a piece
of you in everything
if only it were that easy
now i can barely remember
the sounds of your voice
whether you had 27 freckles splashed across your cheeks
or 28
if you liked your ice crushed or cubed
funny how time can change someone who was your whole world
into the quickly fading and forgotten past
