Empty Seats
I remember the laughs,
The smiles,
The warm embraces,
The jokes, the songs,
The nonsense conversations,
The memories the four of us shared.
I remember the bags,
The ones you carried everywhere,
The ones that formed a mountain beside your desk.
Your pen staining a blank lined paper,
Filling it with the magic and power of your writing.
I remember the hat,
The gray one that always sat on your head,
The one you gave to me as a memory.
Your headphones pouring music in your ears,
Creating the symphony the words you type follow.
I remember the doodles,
The ones that covered everything you owned,
The ones that blossomed the world to life.
Your pencil sketching out your imagination,
Bringing the wildest dreams you dream alive.
I’ll never forget the seats,
The ones you three used to sit in,
The ones I’ll never see you in again,
Your figures no longer where they should be,
Breaking me apart with the memories.
I remember the laughs,
The smiles,
The warm embraces,
The jokes, the songs,
The nonsense conversations.
The memories the four of us shared
I’ll never forget being in class with you,
Or in the hallways, or in lunch.
All of us chatting away without a worry,
Of our time together ending.
The times where you were always beside me,
The space that is now replaced by air.
You’re no longer at my side,
Leaving nothing but empty seats behind.
