Star Crossed
They lay out in a dark field
Wrapped up in the warmth of blankets
And each other
Pointing out big and little dippers
And the big dipper made Orion stable
As he stood firm in the night
The clouds danced below the moon
Casting shadows on the lit up field
While the grass gently danced
In the wind
Two star crossed lovers
Made of stardust themselves
Looking up at their twinkling ancestors
Spirit and nature connected
And swallowed in a quiet peace
And she whispered to him
“None of these stars are here
The light we see is millions of light years away”
So they looked in the darkness
And tried to imagine where the new stars were born
And didn’t look at themselves
Two glowing lights in a field
Wrapped up in the warmth of blankets
And each other
