As an optimist, I tend to look for a light ahead
Even if my future seems dark and full of dread.
I could say that I believe in meliorism
And in the eradication of racism.

I also believe a good amount of humankind
Has become accustomed to being blind.
I find that they repeatedly commit verbicide
Carelessly throwing words to the wayside.

When did we stop meaning what we say?
When did we start seeing in only grey?
Our species is engineered to evolve
So why are we beginning to devolve?

Power driven, we begin our devolution;
Filling the world with a different kind of pollution.
We have watched humanity's downward spiral,
Eagerly awaiting the day it goes viral.

The age of man has long since been over.
The demons have finished their subtle takeover.
I believe it's time for a new world order.
Who will be the first to cross the border..?

As an optimist, I believe someone will.
But until then, the world awaits at a standstill.
A twig suddenly snaps in the distance..
It is time to dawn the resistance.
