Stuck in Neutral MAG
It has taken her years
to carve a mask so
smooth, so
unaffected,
and now it is complete
She has boarded up
her green-gray eyes
so that they are
no longer “windows
to the soul”
Emotions do not cross
her face or flicker
in her orbs for fear
they will be shot down
before being seen
People stare at her face,
amazed that she remains
calm in the storm
that swirls with
no signs of stopping
But what they don't see
is that on her sleeve,
her heart is hanging
from a
simple,
singular
stitch
