Words We Say
They are spoken and written down,
We shout them,
We whisper them into someone else’s ear,
The words we say.
They provoke emotion that nothing else could,
Sadness that can leave us weeping for days,
Red hot anger to turn us against one another,
They can leave us smiling for days,
making us feel like we are walking on air,
The words we say.
Words can convince us to follow our dreams,
They can even nudge us down a path for certain destruction.
“But, they are only words” is what we say but do we mean it?
