I don't get embarrassed, I embarrass.

Once upon a time

In a town not far away

There lived a married couple

And their only son named Jay

Jay grew up healthy enough

Always kind and humble and floored

Until he reached the age of thirteen

When he started to get real bored

Bored and blue and unhappy

Call it what you may

It wasn’t long before the parents

Fretted about their Jay

With life, with school, etcetera

Jay was sick of the scum

His parents hated his attitude

His dad called him a bum!

Fed up with their son

The parents left to go on a cruise

Jay wished that he could come with them

He’d give his problems a truce

Mom and Dad said No, no, no

Jay could not, would not go

Jay stayed at home and sighed and groaned

‘Til he found a book by Jodi Picoult

The title’s not important

About a man, some kids, his wife

As Jay read on the tragic tale

He was grateful for his life!

When his folks returned from vacation

Jay was thrilled to bits

He glomped and kissed and hugged his folks

‘Til they said “Calm your wits!”

Jay was finally at peace

With life, with school, all that

And he owed it all to the book

Whose title is not important

Little old assignment for Writer's Craft that I wanted to share with the world.
