Squeaky Clean
I keep taking longer showers every night,
Standing under the rush of scalding water,
Hoping I will burn you off my skin
As I think of how unoriginal that line is,
And I still continue to let hydrogen and oxygen bonds
Pound down on my head
Again,
And Again,
Until you drown in my chemically induced thoughts,
And then I sit on the floor in your leftovers,
Housed in stringed together droplets,
And watch until the rest of you is
Pulled down the drain,
But there are still drops of you on my skin
That no towel could ever dry.
