To Be A Burrito
How would it be
to be a burrito?
There are so many ways
to be a burrito.
If I was a burrito
I would be filled with all kinds of non- burrito fillings
all the things I like
with maybe just a dap of hot salsa
because that's the kind of burrito I'd be.
If everyone was a burrito
I hope they'd be filled with what they like
all kinds of different fillings
but I know that's not what would happen.
People would conform to a certain way
a burrito should be.
But not me.
I'd be looking for other misfit burritos filled with what they love.
Maybe burritos with different fillings than mine.
Those would be the best kinds of burritos
and who knows, maybe I'd like their fillings too.
Burritos aren't perfect
they fall apart
the filling comes out
and they look like a mess.
But sometimes all it takes
is help from other burritos
to share their extra tortilla to patch you up
to help you spoon your filling back in
and turn you back into the burrito you used to be.
If I was a burrito
I'd be tempted to lie in the comfort of my warm tortilla
safe from the cold world outside
and never leave my house.
But although the world
is not an easy place for a burrito
it gives you more fillings
and a crustier tortilla.
The world wants to be explored
by burritos
and if I was a burrito
I'd explore it.
Oh how it would be
to be a burrito
and what a burrito I'd be.
