Just to Say
This is just to say how small you have cut me down.
This is just to say that your mismatched words and actions
Were a diamond-edged saw that cut slivers off of my body
One by one
Until I was reduced to a shell.
You have cut away my skin until I feel I am no longer myself
Like I am a guest in a weaker girl’s body.
My muscles are stripped away,
Leaving me weak and defenseless against your ice-tipped words.
What’s left is simply framework;
Keeping me up, holding me over
Until I can begin to rebuild.
