For What Lies Ahead MAG
She lived in a place
filled with laughter and light.
It was a safe place
and close to her heart.
Each day she looked at the sky.
A vast ocean.
An abyss.
A bird flew by
and another one followed.
The bird flew away with grace,
it possessed a certain freedom.
A vagabond,
for it was wild.
The girl felt a longing.
A need to escape
the cage which she lived in.
She began to feel compressed.
But oh!
How beautiful were
its gold-plated bars.
Who would want to leave
its jewel-encrusted door?
One day she looked at the sky,
and she saw a bird fly by.
Her footsteps led her
out the jewel-encrusted door.
Pause.
Look backward.
Look forward.
For what lay ahead
was a desolate land.
Darkness and lifelessness
was what she saw.
So menacing compared to her cage.
She looked at the sky,
and a bird flew by.
It entered the horizon
into a pool of light.
Oh what a sight!
She no longer saw
the menacing land.
Instead a promise on the horizon.
She spread her wings,
and flew.
Out of sight.
