&quot;I like people who put in effort, even if they&#039;re not good at it.&quot;<br /> - Mitsukuni Haninozuka

First line borrowed from Charles Simic’s “Against Winter”

The truth is dark under your eyelids.
The wish ungranted remains in the corner
Of the vacant room once filled to the brim.
Dreaming of nightmares following memories.
Your dreams are left to be forgotten.

A sudden caw of a raven awaits.
Your ultimate return keeps her
From ever arriving. Her jet-black,
Silkened hair mirrors the plumage.
The haze thickens, masks the sky.

Pellets of rain pattered above.
With a slight flick of the wrist,
You return to the day a year past.
Carrying a parcel of forgiveness
You open your eyes to the starless night.

I admire Simic for the mysterious aura of his poems which inspired me to write this poem.
