Ocean shore
sunny day
the blonde boy
with his guitar
has come to play

His eyes sparkle
the color of the sea
he says
there's no place
he would rather be
than here with me

But we
are opposites
I'm from the sea
he's from land

But sometimes
opposites
attract.

The author's comments:
This poem is about a mermaid who meets a boy out at sea and falls in love with him. I love this poem because it expresses something more than a mermaid falling in love with a human. Two people, no matter what race, religion, hair color, ANYTHING, can fall in love. I hope people will understand the message it sends.
