Words do not have a limit
to how often they can be used
And yet,
overtime they can lose meaning

The novelty wears off
and the words that we speak,
the ones that seem bold and new,
become faded in our eyes

When I was a child,
choice words were locked away
Once I unlocked them though,
they were not as wounding as before

Today I cannot go an hour
without apologizing to somebody
“I’m sorry” is hollow
and breaks as it falls to the floor

But there are words
that always have that same ring,
punch,
and ability to install emotion

The word that I never tire of
is the oldest word of all;
the word I’ll always treasure
is love
