New Girl
as she walks through the crowded hallways,
Kids bump, and push past her,
they are too worried about their own lives,
to even care if she’s lost,
they stare when she walks in late,
and laugh when she trips over her own feet,
she sits alone in the back of the class,
listening to ‘Fallen Angels’,
hoping no one will pay any attention to her,
at lunch she stands in the middle of the room,
tray in hand and alone,
who would want the new weird kid at their table?
she gives up just standing there and goes to eat outside,
all alone and hoping no one will brother her,
when it’s finally time to go home,
she smiles,
then sighs, because she has to do it all over again tomorrow
