You can't deny laughter; when it comes, it plops down in your favorite chair and stays as long as it wants.

- Stephen King

Illusions
Revealed in shards of glass,
The remains of a once truthful mirror
That had yet to allow a lie escape,
Doomed to meet a bitter fate.
A wilting rose,
The winter’s frost having already taken its toll
A dull moon in a sea of radiant orbs,
Shrouded by clouds of deception.
An outsider
Drowning in the immeasurable depths of time and space.
Leather boots shatter the ground,
Tears lick at soft skin,
Walls of anguish block her path.
She runs away from the tendrils of the past,
Trapped in the relentless jaws of a Secret.

So this originally started off as a self-portrait poem assignment one day, and it grew from that.
