Storm
It starts deep within your lungs
caught along the lines of the flesh
It is the jealousy that you feel when you look at the person before you
This is the hatred you have begun to grow inside
The sensation slowly begins to spread
traveling in every direction
It goes into your veins and laces your blood
Spreading further out with each pump of the heart
Your mind is level while everything buzzes inside you
Your brain feels detached from the rest of your body
You can feel the loathing burning away your happiness
Neutral is no longer an option
It all comes back suddenly
retreating from your bloodstream
The hatred is traveling to your chest
and crawling up your throat
You know what happens when a warm front meets a cold one
A tornado is slowly on its way
You are trying to not feed the rage
but it’s consuming all of your defenses
The ball in your throat swells to get bigger and bigger
You can feel it grazing the roof of your mouth
It is swirling inside you
and threatens to spill out
A scream nearly bubbles out of your lips
so then
THEN
you swallow
shove down the storm
And give a smile
