Wake and Sleep
I wish you wouldn’t stare at me
your body blue and cold
because your eyes shine bright with death
and a story to be told
You muted your own voice
so that you could sleep forever
I knew I couldn’t save you
with the time we spent together
But the night before I could not sleep
Instead, I thought of you
I wondered if you rested
or if you were awake too
Do you live in your own world
where you're not reminded of here?
Is your mind far away
while your body remains near?
You used to tell me tales
about a boy who fought a demon
I didn’t know he’d lost
until they told me you were gone
