Screaming
One two, one two
In, out
Slow and move.
Breath quiet, no one should hear
Lungs failing, heart racing
Panic is just a brief state of overwhelming fear
It will go away
It should go away –
But it isn’t.
People passing and calm
Shock is setting in
God I want my mom.
Depression is common but not in me
I’m fine, I swear, why can’t you see?
Problems in front of our noses
Yet look, no don’t - turn away.
Ignore what’s right in front of your face.
Cuts and bruises make up our lives
Why don’t you help?
Can’t you just try?
Breathing is effortless yet you’re just fine
Chatting with your friends
Never asking why.
Self-judgment is what poisons the mind
Makes you sick
Forces you to lie.
Feeling as though a thousand people
Are waiting for me to trip.
Why can’t you just let me sleep,
Instead of waiting for my hand to slip?
The world is watching yet I do not falter
You do not control me
I will not be altered.
