Scarlet Tears
Now he's gone and I'm haunted
against these white walls
against these dark spaces
trapped in this skin of mine
he used to paint purple,
and then again with the sheet rock
and his knuckles:
those were black
he spoke with bruises
and a voice that I never could get over
he sang away my qualms
only to create them
only to stay "Be Still"
(and know that I'm with you
be still know I am)
he is beneath my closed eyes
painting me red
but leaving others
to wipe away the tears
