Haunted
Now she’s gone and you’re haunted,
deep into the recesses of
your mind you erase
this ugly refrain of
misery and heated
frustration: at the sight
of her face
molded into every white wall
into every blank page
on every street corner
and you sink deeper
into this grave of regret
feeling the pressure like
a chasm thrashing
beneath your being
you spoke like a heart did
and she took your words,
which were garnered with
austere honesty and sincerity,
and threw them into fire.
