She wanted to make her mark on the world,
But ended up making a mark on herself.
She wanted to make a mark the whole world would see,
But now struggles to keep her mark hidden,
And hidden it remains, for the most part,
But I know.
She wanted her mark to bring her closer to others,
But the mark she has would only separate her
If anyone else found out. They haven’t, yet.
She still dreams of making her mark on the world,
But is forced to live with the consequences of the mark she has,
As it grows deeper, longer, and worse, no aid in sight,
As she risks being overcome…
And all the while I watch, unable to stop the destruction,
As night takes over her life.
