Poetry Slam
Here’s to the people who have it so hard
Who are told to just get over it
When it is never truly that easy
Told to stop being so sad
Because in real life everyone’s so happy
Wait no one is
Why do we need to be so happy all the time?
When there’s so much going on no one else even knows
Then there’s the people who compare your problems to theirs
Why do you care about moving all the time, when my parents are divorcing?
Don’t you belittle my problems
My biggest problem is still my biggest problem
It doesn’t matter how it compares to yours
Because no matter how bad what you’re going through is
That doesn’t change how large my problem is to me
Don’t forget about those few
The ones that every single person tears down
For not being as smart as everyone else
Not hiding their problems as well as most people
Those that are always torn down for not being perfect
Step back for a second
Take a minute of your time
And realize you aren’t perfect either
So don’t harass anyone for being exactly like you
Imperfect and flawed
Here’s to the people who take so much from everyone
But are still holding on
