The American Dream Is Not Blonde

She does not have crystal blue eyes
or milky white skin
Her body is not to be objectified
by simpleminded folk
Instead,
she is everyone
Her eyes are a million different shades,
each with a shine that leaves you breathless
Her smile is full,
displaying sincere joy at your company
She is born from hope
and the idea of a better life
If you look at someone’s smile,
you can see the resemblance to her
