I'll Never Have Your Love
Why do you hate me?
I tried so hard to earn your love,
the love most get for simply being born.
But no matter what I did,
making straight A's, winning awards, throwing my being into work,
it was never enough for you.
The top of my grade, future valedictorian.
All this means nothing to me, the work forgotten,
because without your love it doesn't matter.
The good girl act forgotten, I attempt rebellion.
Plans backfire and life will never give you what you wish.
More hatred, stony looks, and cold silence.
Despair and loneliness eating me from the inside out.
Yet still I try, clinging to the hope that it'll be different soon,
even knowing that my efforts are wasted on a black heart.
Why do you hate me?
I tried so hard to earn your love,
the love I should get for simply being your daughter.
