The small cluster of trees was a single glowing gem against the pale autumn colors.
Green as emeralds they give a sense of comforting shelter.
Their thick branches and bunches of peacock-feathered leaves fight with the shockingly cold wind.
Four times as tall as me and standing erect,
they guard me from the colliding, crashing chaos.
Here, there's only the sweet serenity of a mother's embrace and a father's loving protection.
