Breathe
It sounds strange,
but when I see you,
it feels like flying and falling
all at once
I love the way your presence
makes my heart take flight
It soars inside my body,
traveling from my toes to my throat
My lungs are suddenly no longer
able to function
without reminders to inhale
and let the breath fade away
My eyes want to rest on you,
only you,
yet they flit everywhere
just to make sure you’re not a dream
On the outside nothing changes,
but on the inside
when I see you,
I am shutting down
You are the only one
who has this ability
to make my mind stutter
and force my autopilot to disengage
It seems as if I am dying,
yet my spirit is being reborn pure
all in that little moment
when I see you
