Stranger
Meeting you was icy water splashed from a bathroom sink
Speaking to you was lighter flickered light on a dark misty night
Finding you was a shot with a golden arrow, into Achilles heel
So many were seen, they transformed as they left
Beautiful reverse chameleons that changed those who loved them
I watched them and learnt from them with eager wet eyes
And became all that their eyes touched and remarked
I became the quiet and loud, a series of juxtapositions
All for those I feared and idolised
I met you on a foggy mist filled street
And again in the warmth of a chair and a notebook
I met you in a warm jumper and a hug from a friend
With books and books and cold warm coffee
I met you as a traveller and lastly as myself
The girl I left behind embraced me with a smile
And lingered the smell of my mothers perfume
Letting go of those I used to be
And joining the journey with the girl I once knew
Meeting myself was finding the word in a crossword
Meeting myself was hands in pockets and snowy rooftops
Meeting myself was a reunion that shall never break again.
