New Covenant
Friday Night Lights
Shine brighter with
Every touchdown
As she walks to
The gate towards
Her beat up Convertible
Hiding the tears he caused
Once again by
Replacing her
with someone better
because there's always
someone better
He was crucified on Friday
A late night shift
That she'd rather not be at
Wiping tables
Clearing trays
For a young couple
On their first date
And she smiles because
The girl used to come in
Crying
Hiding
But now she smiles
Behind blush tinted cheeks
She asks if they'd like dessert
And she knows she will
find happiness
Peace
A few weeks
A few months
Only time would tell
Saturday and the disciples
Are still mourning
Her stomach flips
As the clock strikes 6:00
And the doorbell rings
A man holds a bouquet of
11 roses because
she is the 12th
Dressed in deep red
To match her cheeks
She has had her share
Of dandelions
And weeds
Of waiting and
hoping
But
It is finally her Sunday
He has risen
And happiness has come again
