In the days where the world seem grey

I was shut out with my family

The grassy fields were my only friend

In the morning light, it would greet me hello with a warm smile
At dusk, danger fills the fields.

It told me to stay away

It was my only friend until my family moved away and so did I

Now I had no friends

Every day, the window shows me wondrous things

When I look out the window, I dream in the light

But my mind is bound by reality

I can never escape from there I thought

As long as a person has the will to shatter a dream, one cannot escape reality

It is forever my prison

But how can one be imprisoned in reality

Simple

It rests upon who can will reality

The Father holds the key and chains

The Mother constructs the cell

The Sister accompanies the imprisoned

It feels that when I caught a talent, it was a key to my path of freedom

A skill honed with a pencil is useful but costly

Too often can lead into a disillusioned path where the traveler cannot turn back

Not enough will end up back in an imprisoned reality where a skill is restrained

Now I hold the key and chains

I control my reality

My talent is embraced rather than forced restrain

Where will talent lead me to
No matter the size of the rocks in the path I choose

New companions behind me will aid my safe travel into where it will lead me

Speak my language of Otaku

And I will listen

Interpret my thoughts in pencil

And I will sketch thank you

Understand my dream and passion

And I will befriend you along my travel

This was originally my assignment for my English teacher last year. But everyone liked it so much, they encouraged me to publish it to a magazine called 'Teen Ink'. The poem is about my life before and during my time as a beginning artist while I was growing up.
