There's a darkness in the child
That not even he realises-
A creeping sickness that causes
The bile at the back of his throat
and the shivers at the base of his spine;
He wonders time and time again
Why he can't just do what the other do,
And slip seamlessly into the fabric of society-
He doesn't realises all of the flaws
That make him stand out
And yet fade from view;
He's unique in all the worst ways.

He tries to dig his way to the surface,
But he doesn't know that he's only
Digging
Downwards.
