Rebuild And Forget
The invasion is over
I suppose
Artillery shells lay more abundant
Than beating hearts
Have we got our medals yet?
A shiny golden trophy is much more important to society
Than another hungry mouth, isn’t it?
New Mall Coming In Six Months.
That’s odd, shouldn’t it say new cemetery.
We cut, we shoot, we bombard the innocent,
But then we wrap the rubble in a tiny box and forget.
But should we?
Should we forget that we laid waste to oblivious citizens
To stop the virus from reaching us?
Loss is a choice made for us and sacrifice is a choice we make,
But I think we made the wrong decision.
We didn’t even lose anything,
But a night of sleep.
