Better Without
whispers
brushings
lips that touch
ruffling skin
and faded blood
memories that last
but hurt to remember
the first time we met
to that day in december
i can still feel you,
and hear your voice-
the way we held hands
and laughed both at once.
now so distant
and all out of sorts
its like something is broken
shattered, bruised, assaulted.
“i love you”, you’d whisper
and kiss on my ear
“together forever”
is all I would hear.
recognition brings back the brightest of times
but leaves flames and wounds as lingering vines.
sparking the fire
the pain just pours out
like a lava filled volcano in the midst of a drought.
disheartening to remember,
i now choose to not
since your voice is a cauldron
stealing all my hopes and endeavors.
love is patient,
and love is meant to be kind
but being with you made my emotions unwind
out of reach we are better
away from all of the pain
because if we face it
youre just a pathetic knife in my vein.
