"What's right is what's left if you do everything else wrong." Robin Williams

Why sleep, but in the hopes of dreaming?
To unlock all of your doors and allowing all of your emotions to compile together with every last drop of your imagination.
To allow all of your inner demons to run free with every hope and dream, pure and magnificent.
Embracing a state of freedom, mixing chaos and passion into a medley of excitement.
Allowing experiences impossible in the face of reality to be experienced.
Leaving your desires to roam free, as your mind lays the foundation for the newest adventure that you are to undergo.
Without all of this, the mind is left barren. Only darkness remains.
A void, cold, empty and unmoving is all that is left.
Pulling away all traces of life and joy from the mind.
To sleep without the hopes of dreaming,
Is to swim with the hopes of drowning.

This was inspired by having a very confusing dream followed by a night of no dreams.

I like this a lot! :) The way you talk about sleep, about dreams... I've never thought about it like that before.  The last two lines are going to stay with me, and the sentiment of the beginning kind of, sort of reminds me of "Music of the Night" from The Phantom of the Opera. It's lovely. 5/5 stars.

Thank you for the positive feedback, and I guess I'd say that I have an interesting way of thinking. ;P haha

I love the last two lines! They have such finality and wrap the poem up so nicely. This is such an interesting way to think of sleep! Great job!

I love the last two lines; they wrap up the poem beautifully. I also like your "medley of excitement." Amazing job! XD Have a great day!

You've got a lot of great poems up right now but I think this one's my favorite. Incredible imagery; you put words to something one can scarcely describe. Great job.
