The City Sky
The city lights
are just as bright
as the stars that freckle the sky
While the stars are piercing,
the city lights are a soft glow
Stars hold a power
to make us feel surrounded and small
while the lights of the city emit warmth
through which we strive
The city lights vary in color,
a shining rainbow
Stars are constantly white,
blindingly shining
Both twinkle through the fog,
a shimmering a hope
I wonder,
in a parallel universe,
if people would look up into the sky
to see nothing but city lights
and feel just as astounded
as we do when gazing at stars
