Favorite Quote:
" I still belive, in spite of everything, people are truly good at heart."

It has been brought to my attention,
Through my reading of American literature,
We the people are endowed with a wavering set of morals.
We have given in to greed, sin, and power:

The corruption of American ideals.

We are such an impassioned people
Who have struggled against our own misgivings of human nature.
Has that dream of these United States expired in flames?
Yet, in our final resolutions
There appears,
In the form of
Deprivation,
Depravation,
Disillusionment,
Or merciful death,
A shadow that consumes us.

I was inspired to write this after thinking about all the books I had read in English this year. I found that I loved American literature because it reflected our misgivings of human nature in the pursuit of American ideals.
