Breathe
In
and
out.
I watch his chest
rise
then
fall.
He is tense.
He is sleeping.
I am here to soothe him
fragile
wounds
and to collect the pieces of his
shattered
mind.
I was supposed to be a
guardian angle.
But I came from hell
and I can’t save him
and I could never save me.
I was assigned to him.
He was given to me
for safe keeping.
So I watch his chest
rise
then
fall.
Breathing.
In
and
out.
