Friendly Faces
My emotions sometimes like to come out
And play a little game
Whether for merriment or to torture me
All of it’s the same
Happiness turns around the corner
And I chase after her skirt
Whenever I’m close she dances away
Always been sort of a flirt
Sadness sits in the corner
He’s actually very shy
Never really says a word
Just breathes his quiet sighs
Anger stomps into my view
And all I see is red
He’s the fiercest of them all
And likes to be in my head
Joy bursts from the ground
Throwing me over her back
We fly and soar together
Far above the black
Trust likes to make me exposed
Vulnerable to the aching
But occasionally he’ll find someone
To save me from the breaking
Surprise likes to make me smile
And sometimes make me weep
Whatever it is,
The experience,
Afterwards I can’t fall asleep
Giddiness giggles and spins me around
Filled with so much glee
I look at her with fondness
And she does the same for me
But never would I ever guess
Never would I place
That out of all of them
Sadness
Has the kindest face
