Always Burning

I'm not bleeding
but my flesh is
charred

Scorched by the flames
burning
in my core

It was my own head that
ignited
this tempestuous blaze

And it's my own heart that
sustains
the blistering heat

It's a fire within
that just keeps on
growing

This burning desire
engulfs
my entire being

Yet strangely, it just gets
fueled
as water is added

Success is only
achieved
by those who care so much it hurts

I am a swimmer
and my inferno will never be
extinguished.

Wow nice... What  I liked most was the way you contradicted yourself and the stanza form really came on well... My favourite stanza is the one preceding the last. It absolutely rings with truth.
