Surrender
Broken are the wills of those
Who now stand shattered in tidy rows
They smell the victory in the air
But it is not theirs, they blankly stare
Into the face of their great foe
And every weary man does know
That home will taste like tears of regret
For in the end, those soldiers let
A victory crash to defeat
The champion’s loss on the final heat
They hear naught but sorrowful pain
The cheers of the enemy, a silent rain
Their wounds are many, but none are greater
Than the permanent bite of their surrender.
