The Hangman
He comes around to every village,
Every city, every town.
He comes around with his long wooden posts,
Which will soon be arranged into something terrible.
He arrives in the village and everyone gathers around.
Day by day he picks people from the crowd,
Day by day the population shrinks.
He ties the noose around their necks,
And hoists them up into the air,
A sack around their heads.
Soon only one person is left,
And that person knows their fate.
Slowly they walk up to the platform and tighten the knot around their neck.
They slowly get lifted up into the air.
After a while the hangman takes them down.
And moves on to the next town.
