Racing Water
We built our paper boats
And ran out into the storm.
The rain wet the firm texture
Of my purple ship.
When it was time to race
We set our boats and let them go
With the cold wind.
The taste of victory is so near
For my little purple ship.
I could hear the other kids screaming
“Go! Go! GO!”
I can see it now, my ship flowing.
Till it crashed near the smell of wet leaves.
My knees hit the puddle as my purple ship
Goes down the flooded drain.
