Sad Summer Breeze
I want to write about the sad summer breeze
The one that sweeps strands into brown eyes and
Ruffles the tree-hands who
Suddenly wave goodbye
Or maybe ‘we’re sorry?’
Because now you’re lost
In a tomb buried long ago
How could this warm and cozy friend
Betray us?
And in a whirl you’re in his arms
Or maybe holding hands with your
Mother who passed when you were
Just old enough to remember
You are a stone in the breeze
Your limp limbs no longer sway
And dance with the smooth silk
Like the grass beneath your feet
And years later your feet plant
The earth that you once loved
All is still. The alliance is broken
And you are broken
