Broken Road
She had dreams that touched the sky
They get shot down all the time
Smeared tears streak down her face
If only she knew she had a place
Acting so tough, his head held high
He knows how to roll with the punch
Deep down inside hides a bruised injured pride
Never been told that he’s loved
Two injured souls on a well walked road
Salty tears and red blood on the street
Dark angry clouds block the bright light out
Iron bars guard their broken hearts
Some get stuck on this darkened path
Others find ways to break free
Darkness always finds places to creep
Even as they try to light a fire
Many can’t find a way to bring back the spring
While some learn to grow their wings
The hopeless fall hard, when doubt sneaks in
This is what happens to life without love
