The Young Raven
For all of you who may not know
This is not a knock-off of Edgar Allen Poe.
I do not take what isn't mine
For that would be crossing a very fine line.
THE YOUNG RAVEN
She's courtly and smiling to all who survey
They chortle and giggle, eyeing her sparkle each with their own greed at play.
They are ignorant, dull, and rather quite dreary
There is a young raven, sick of the gawking whom is feeling like jeering.
Eventually she will see what she has missed
And fly off to better ranks; inside, sun-kissed
Though, for now, she will she what she's told
While hiding her speech underneath.
But here we do welcome a bird with a beak
Welcome a girl whose memory is for keep
And so, please join as I say to thee
Late as this be
Welcome, young raven.
Don't leave us without a word
As that'd be a pity.
