Amulet
Hell is the fire burning in his eyes
From any emotions, nightfall to sunrise
Fury locked away, shoved aside by his hope’s demise.
To vent, a release, to escape from the proffered lies
Doing all he can to flee from reality
Though, he’s forgotten that one technicality.
She’s the devil that stalks the night
Hunting for hearts, dusk to dawn to twilight
Ensnaring one’s minds, stealing all good
Haunting his thoughts, still, as he knew she surely would.
She’s the wraith daunting his dreams
Dancing in the dark, giggling at his frustrated screams
A poison he’s certain, though her potion bade him live
It’s impossible; doesn’t she know what for her affection he’d give?
Heaven is the look he offers, with joy to part skies
With such a gaze, her courage on no occasion dies
Adoration bubbling to the surface, each expectation she defies
Speaking things dearest, from which in her heart resides
The smile she sees, a scar’s slow-healing lotion
Quietly watching, fantasizing of breathing the notion.
She’s his guardian angel, thus keeping him from harm
Guiding him, without being connected via the arm
Trailing behind him, silent and fixing his mistakes
Determined to save him, regardless of which road he takes.
She’s flora and fauna, the moon, the sun, the dove
Singing songs after him, her voice filled with whichever sort of love
Whether you be a father, a mother, a daughter, or a son
By mind or by blood, there’s a bond somewhere, if there ever was one.
Few believe wholly in finding one’s true love, blinded by common lust
But there’s truth to the matter, there must be, there must!
